*"Petersburg Moves to Protect Historic Battersea...*
*Battle** over Battersea…"*
-( F.M. Wiggins, Progress Index)
…ENDS IN VICTORY!! After 38 years on the National Register of Historic
Places, the Battersea Villa and all 37 acres will be protected by a
perpetual historic Easement granted to the Virginia Department of Historic
Resources by the City of Petersburg!
People from all over the City and the Commonwealth rallied on Battersea's
behalf!
Battersea Inc. would like to thank all those who contacted the Petersburg
City Council, wrote letters and emails, spoke at the Public Hearing, or
offered their support in any manner!
This is a very important stepping stone for the partnership between
Battersea Inc. and the City of Petersburg. This unanimous decision by City
Council assures us that the future is bright for Battersea. We have united
in hardship and will continue our union for progress!
Check the Battersea website for important upcoming information and events.
