The 19th-century Italianate house at 2311 M Street had been left
vacant for years. Blighted and sagging, it looked like a meal for the
bulldozers and had been slated for demolition when A.C.O.R.N. acquired
the rights to try and save it by finding a buyer. David Collett-- an
early and faithful believer in rehabilitating homes in the Church Hill
area-- bravely took a chance and purchased the property in 2005. He
then proceeded to straighten it up and begin the massive task of total
renovation and rehabilitation... as some onlookers wondered why. Now,
after many months of work, we can explore the results.
