Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebrated by Seniors
The Foster Grandparent and Retired Senior and Volunteer Programs of
Senior Connections, The Capital Area Agency on Aging invites the
community to attend a dual theatrical presentation, A Visit with Rosa
Parks, performed by Mrs. Mary Patrick of Petersburg, and Our Journey
Towards Justice: A Collection of Impressions, performed by Ms. Katrinah
Carol Lewis of Barksdale Theatre and Theatre IV, and Mr. William Dye,
actor and Artistic Director of the Richmond Boys' Choir. The program
will held on Friday, January 12, 2007 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the
auditorium of the Richmond Public Library - Main Branch at 101 East
Franklin Street. A wheelchair accessible entrance is located near the
corner of Second and Franklin Streets.
Rosa Parks' role in the Civil Rights Movement will be explored in Mrs.
Patrick's presentation. This is an original production created by Mrs.
Patrick. Our Journey Towards Justice is series of dramatic readings
rendered by Ms. Lewis and Mr. Dye. The scripts for the two actors
created by RSVP Volunteer Coordinator Tony Williams are based on
interviews and written responses from Agency volunteers and employees.
These individuals responded to a series of questions about individual
perceptions about Dr. King's influence during the Civil Rights Movement
and today.
For additional information about the Dr. King celebration event, please
call Tony Williams at 804-343-3050. The event is free and open to the
public.
